Justine Wykerd in line for National Good Funeral Award
Warwickshire funeral celebrant Justine Wykerd has been selected from hundreds of nominees to go through to the final stages of this year’s glittering Good Funeral Awards ceremony at the Porchester Hall in London on Thursday 7 September 2016.
Justine is now in line to win the prestigious national title of Celebrant of the Year.
The Good Funeral Awards are now in their sixth year and recognise excellence in the world of funerals, rewarding the best funeral directors and all associated services that are involved in creating memorable funerals. Wholly independent of the funeral industry, the awards are supported by consumer advocates the Good Funeral Guide and the Natural Death Centre.
Justine Wykerd said, “Being nominated came as a big surprise; I have no idea who put my name forward, other than being advised it was one of the families I have supported. That in itself is recognition enough – to know that they thought I did a good job – however I am delighted to be a finalist. Increasingly people choose to celebrate the lives of those they have lost; I am truly honoured to officiate funerals and make them memorable for all of the right reasons. Incredibly, I was told that I was a finalist exactly 4 years and 2 days to the day that I conducted my very first funeral (6th August 2013,) so I’d say that means something!”
