We’ve had fairy tale, rustic and rock. We’ve had candle ceremonies, rose ceremonies and handfastings. We’ve had readings that made us cry and vows that made us laugh. We even had a Viking Horn and a gladiator mask! We’ve had fun…
As a Celebrant standing in front of wedding guests or in front of mourners at a funeral, I have a responsibility to my wedding couples and funeral families to look respectable, portray the occasion in an appropriate manner, and of course – be true to myself.
Let me tell you something. I’ve been to, and officiated enough weddings to give every bridal couple a worthy word of advice….Breathe. Slow down. Enjoy it. Take some time out with your loved one.

With a cold winter upon us in England, I cast my memory back to one of my summer ceremonies of 2015 and Gemma and Stuart’s beautiful beach wedding and sand ceremony in Skala, on the island of Kefalonia, Greece.
My week started like any other ordinary Monday. I had two funeral ceremonies to officiate, so my thoughts were with the two families who had a very difficult day ahead. The ceremonies were prepared, rehearsed, printed out in a presentation folder and I was ready to ensure that the memories they had entrusted to me were going to be delivered in the most heartfelt manner. I was cool, calm and collected. For a while at least.
Congratulations, you found “The One”! You’ve booked the venue, the DJ and the photographer. The invites are in the post, the cake is in the oven. You have the dress, the shoes and the flowers are to die for. Sadly the actual ceremony itself has been overlooked! The “I Do’s”. The most important words that you will say to the most special person in the world, on your biggest day of your lives haven’t been given a thought. Don’t you think you should?
